Cookie Sliders are the perfect treat to serve up for April Fool’s Day or for your next BBQ or get-together! These cookie sandwiches look like real mini cheeseburgers and taste delightful!
I am so excited to be sharing these Cookie Sliders with you today! There are so much fun to make and even more fun to serve! Whether you’re making them for a “sweet” April Fool’s joke or serving up at your next BBQ, you are sure to be hearing “ooohs” Â and “aaahhs” from everyone! These take just minutes to put together and you can change it up with your favorite cookies and treats to make it extra special for your friends and family. They totally look like mini cheeseburgers but they taste even better!
Start off with two Nilla Wafers for each slider you want to make. To make the lettuce you can do one of two things. You can either use green frosting or gel OR you can use a green Starburst and follow the same steps that I will show to you below for the cheese. You will want to crimp the edges though. Notice that I don’t cover the entire wafer with the gel? You don’t need anymore than this. Just want it peeking out under the “burger”.
Now it’s time for the “burger”. For this batch I used Oreo Fudge Creme cookies – Peanut Butter Creme to be specific 🙂  {Man those cookies are GOOD!}  Any chocolate covered cookie will work though. You can even use peppermint patties. Just use what you like!
Now it’s time for the cheese. To me, orange icing just doesn’t look like cheese at all. What does look like cheese is a slightly melted Starburst!! So this is my favorite party of the cookie 🙂  Unwrap the orange {or yellow} Starbursts. Place 3-4 in the microwave at a time and heat on high heat for 5 seconds. The Starburst will become nice and soft and pliable which will allow you to stretch it till you get the shape you want. You want it just slightly larger than the cookie so it hangs over the edge a little bit. It should look A LOT like melted cheese. See!
Now it’s time for a little “ketchup”. You can totally add “mustard” or whatever else you want but this should get your creative juices flowing 🙂  Why Sparkle Gel? That was the only red I had on hand and why shouldn’t my Cookie Sliders have a little sparkle?? Actually, you can’t even see the sparkle on the sliders 🙂 Same idea with the “lettuce” – you don’t need tons! Just a little will be perfect!
Put on the top “bun” and look! Sliders!
Now for the pièce de résistance! I think the sesame seeds on top are totally GENIUS and really sells the whole burger thing. Don’t like sesame seeds or don’t have any? No biggie, just leave them off. To get those sesame seeds to stick, heat up a small amount of honey for 10 seconds in the microwave. Then gently brush the honey on to the tops of the wafers. Sprinkle on the seeds and voila!
Seriously – does it get any cuter than this??
