I’m tired. I feel like we have been running at full-steam ahead ever since school started and I want, no, need a break. We’ve got soccer four days a week, Chris is coaching Reece’s team, I’ve got loads of work going on right now, school work every day, friends, family…and I’m betting most of you could match me activity for activity, am I right?
I’m just tired of doing it all. I need a break and I’m giving myself one. Such a novel idea! So I’m giving up one of my responsibilities for a time and I’m totally, freaking excited to regain a little bit of time in the mornings because guess what? I’m sending the boys to school with a pre-packed lunch from HALF TIMEâ„¢.
You’ve probably seen Applegate HALF TIMEâ„¢ lunches in stores, they’ve been out for several weeks now. I pick mine up at Target but they’re also available at BJs and Safeway as well.
As a health conscience mom, I’ll admit I’ve been a little bit leery of sending my boys to school with a pre-packed lunch. It’s just seems so processed. You can imagine how exciting it was to discover HALF TIMEâ„¢ lunches.

I mean, seriously, where have they been all my life? My boys enjoy each and every one of these brands at home and now I’m able to send them to school with a lunch I can feel good about. The boys of course have the final say. We did a trial run at home so I could see what they thought of the new lunches…success!
I took my Vanilla Chai Tea Latte and revved it up a bit making it even more fantastic with the addition of caramel. Yes, good call there. Tons of spicy, sweetness with a little caffeine boost to help get me going in the morning…still have to take those kids to school!

Caramel Vanilla Chai Tea Latte
Ingredients
- 2 cups water
- 2 peppercorns
- 3 cloves whole
- 1/8 tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp ground cardamom
- 1/4 tsp ground ginger
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2 black tea bags
- 1 tbsp caramel sauce or syrup 1 to 2 tbsp
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
Instructions
- Combine water, peppercorns, cloves, cardamom, ginger, nutmeg and a cinnamon stick in a small saucepan.
- Bring to a boil and boil for at least five minutes. (The longer you boil, the more the spices will release their flavor.)
- Turn off the heat and place tea bags in water. Steep for 5-6 minutes.
- Stir in caramel sauce and vanilla.
- Heat milk in microwave for 15 seconds on medium heat and stir into tea. (Helps to avoid curdling.)
- Top with whipped cream and additional caramel sauce if desired.
- Serve immediately.
