Berry Lemonade
Refreshing lemonade is a must have during the hot summer months. There is just something about lemonade with it’s tart, refreshing sweetness that makes those hot days much more bearable.
We make all sorts of variations but this easy berry lemonade is a favorite of ours because it takes no time at all.
Currently, we are in the middle of a heat wave in Sacramento. More than 10 consecutive days of 100+ with several days exceeding 110 has us running to the ocean and making batch after batch of this easy lemonade.
We really love to have a pitcher of this lemonade in the fridge on standby for when we need something ice cold and refreshing.
Fresh or Frozen Berries
To make this berry lemonade, you’ll need to make berry ice cubes. It’s simply a matter of adding berries to an ice cube tray and then filling with water.
I like to keep these berry ice cubes on hand for flavored water and quick berry lemonade in a pinch. Once frozen, you can store the berry ice cubes in a freezer bag.
You can use fresh or frozen berries but we’re using frozen berries today for the easiest berry lemonade possible.

Lemonade Ingredients
This three ingredient recipe is SO simple and SO refreshing – you’re going to love how easy it is!
- lemons – you’ll be juicing fresh lemons for the best tasting lemonade and adding lemon slices for more lemon flavor.
- berries – I used frozen in the image below but fresh berries can also be used. Feel free to use your favorite berries for this easy lemonade recipe.
- cane syrup or simple syrup – either can be used in this recipe for exceptional results.
How To Make Berry Lemonade
You’re going to love the simplicity of this recipe! Let’s do it!
- Place berries in ice cube tray, cover with water and freeze overnight or until solid.
- Cut lemons in half and using a juicer, juice the lemons until you have about 2/3 to 3/4 cup lemon juice, depending on how tart you want the lemonade to be.
- Slice 2 lemons and add to a pitcher.
- Pour in lemon juice, syrup and water. Stir to combine. Refrigerate until chilled.
- When ready to serve, add berry ice cubes to cups and pour lemonade over the top. Alternately, you can add the berry ice cubes to the pitcher, stir, and serve. Lemonade will turn red when the ice cubes begin to melt.
Cane Syrup vs. Simple Syrup
Cane syrup is a great ingredient to have on hand for drinks like this lemonade, punches, and cocktails. You can find it in the grocery store or online. Here is a cane syrup or this cane sugar syrup that will work well in this recipe.
This recipe calls for cane syrup but you can absolutely substitute simple syrup in a pinch.
How To Make Simple Syrup
Simple syrup is really just so… simple! It’s a 1:1 ratio of sugar and water that gets heated together until the sugar dissolves. Let the syrup cool and then store in the refrigerator until needed.
It’s great to have on hand for cocktails and drinks such as this lemonade.
- Combine equal amounts of water and granulated sugar in saucepan and stir to combine. I frequently do 1 cup of each or 2 cups of each if I want to have some on hand for future drinks.
- Let come to a simmer and stir just a few minutes or until sugar has dissolved.
- Remove pan from heat and let cool.
- Store in an airtight container for up to 3 weeks.
