Last week I emailed my cousin to find out gift ideas for her daughter who was turning two. I asked the usual – what size is she, what is she into, any good ideas for presents? I loved the response I got back! She wanted a
blanket for her babies! She knows that I crochet (occasionally) and thought that maybe I could whip something up. She was right! I haven’t picked up a crochet hook in months and I was eager to make some cute little baby doll blankies for my ADORABLE little cousin.
I checked my yarn inventory (if you crochet or knit, you know what I’m talking about!) and found a variegated yarn that I knew would be perfect and also some green and pink yarn that was super soft.
I’m happy to report that she loves her new baby blankies! Her mommy sent me these cute pics:
I love how this blanket turned out! I really wanted to do clusters because I think it adds so much interest to the little blankie. Final blanket measured 11″ x 13″.

Pink & Green Baby Blanket
I worked this one just like I did Bryce’s blanket. I used Simply Soft yarn. It’s all single crochets so it’s a great beginners project. Final blanket measured 8.5″ x 11″.
Ch. 43
Row 1: 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each of next 4 ch. Skip next 2 ch. 1 sc in each of next 4 ch. *3 sc in next ch, 1 sc in each of next 4 ch,. Skip next 2 ch. 1 sc in each of next 4 ch. Repeat from * to last ch. 2 sc in last ch. Turn.
Row 2: Ch 1. 2 sc in first sc. 1 sc in each of next 4 sc. Skip next 2 sc. 1 sc in each of next 4 sc. *3 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of next 4 sc,. Skip next 2 sc. 1 sc in each of next 4 sc. Repeat from * to last sc. 2 sc in last ch. Turn.
Continue working Row 2 until you reach your desired size. I did {3 rows pink/green, 2 rows pink, 2 rows green} 4 times, 3 rows pink/green for a total of 31 rows.
Edging:
Work sc evenly spaced around the edge of the blanket. You can add a more decorative edging at this point if you desire.
I think these turned out really cute and of course I’m thrilled that they are being enjoyed!

How did you make your waves so arched? Mine is coming out with like softly arched waves. Im new at crocheting and I really like this pattern and it looks good, but it isn’t turning out like yours in the picture. Also what size hook did you use and what weight of yarn?
Thank you!,

What brand of yarn are you using for these two blankets? I am new at crocheting 🙂 also did you use an F hook for both blankets? Thanks
Anne says
I love the doll blankets & want to try making for a niece. What size crochet hook did you use? Thanks!
Trish - Mom On Timeout says
I used an F hook. Have fun!

This is exactly what I am looking for. Do you sell any of these? Interested in price if so. Please let me know as my daughter is always taking the washcloths to put blankies on her babies.
Trish - Mom On Timeout says
I don’t Traci but they are really very easy to make if you can find someone that crochets. Good luck!

Is there any way I could just buy one of these blanets off of you?! lol and if so, how much?

I would also like to know how to make the doll blankets a bigger size for a child? Would I just double the amount chained? Thank you so much.
Trish - Mom On Timeout says
I would double for a smaller blanket but probably triple for a standard sized child’s blanket. Thanks!

Hello,
I have made your pink and green chevron stripe doll blanket and I love it. I was wondering how many did you chain to make it big enough for a child instead of a doll? Thank you!

I gasped when I saw these. This is just what I need to do for one of my granddaughters. I never even thought about baby doll size, thanks.

These blankets are so cute! Look how much she is enjoying them! I was recently to my old neighborhood and visited with my former next door neighbor (29 years ago!) I had crocheted her new baby daughter a blanket and while at her home my friend took me up to her daughter’s bedroom and the blanket was laying on her bed! It was in beautiful shape. I know my neighbor washes linens often. She said she just loved that blanket! That made me feel so good! You will probably have a story like that someday!

When you say that you worked this blanket the same way you did Bryce’s, does that mean you worked it with two strands at a time?
Trish - Mom On Timeout says
I worked the three rows with pink and green (total of two strands), and then pink and green separately for another two rows each. This the same pattern I used for Bryce’s blankie – just smaller 🙂

What an adorable little girl. A nice photo of her playing with her dolls and newly made blankets.
Rachel says
Thanks so much for sharing the pattern for these adorable baby blankets. I like to crochet, but I’m to impatient for big projects. {Or maybe I just don’t like to sit still long enough to finish them} This is perfect for me. Pinned! Thanks for sharing at Terrific Tuesdays.

Thanks Kara! They were so fun to make because they take so little time 🙂 That’s my kind of project!
