Kisses Acorn Treats Have Just Three Ingredients
You need just three simple ingredients for this recipe:
- Hershey’s Kisses – you can use any flavor you like – almond, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, etc.
- Mini Nutter Butters – I like the grid pattern on the Nutter Butters but mini Nilla Wafers also work great!
- Peanut Butter Chips – I used Reese’s brand.
Chocolate chips are a fun twist on this recipe if you prefer a dark brown stem. You could use mini chocolate chips, milk chocolate chips, butterscotch chips – heck, white chocolate chips would work too if your heart desires!
How To Make Acorn Cookies with Hershey’s Kisses
- Line a large baking sheet or flat surface with parchment paper.
- Separate the Nutter Butters and use a knife to carefully scrape off the peanut butter filling so that both halves of the cookies are clean.
- Place an unwrapped Hershey’s Kiss and peanut butter chip next to each cookie.
- Transfer the remaining peanut butter chips to a microwave safe bowl and heat at 50% power for 30 second increments, repeat.
- Dip the flat side of each kiss in the melted peanut butter chips mixture and then quickly press onto the flat, smooth side of one of the cookies. Repeat with remaining kisses. Let sit for 5 minutes.
- Dip each peanut butter chip into the melted peanut butter chips mixture (may need to reheat) and press onto the top of the cookies/acorn to create the stem.
- Place acorns in the refrigerator for at least 10 minutes to set up completely.
- Serve and enjoy!
Nut Free Acorn Cookies
Are you or your family nut free? Simply swap in mini Nilla Wafers and use chocolate chips or butterscotch chips instead.
Storage Information
Once the Acorn Cookies have set up, they can bet stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 10 days. I don’t recommend storing in the refrigerator.
If you want to freeze, transfer to a freezer safe, ziploc bag and freeze for up to 3 months. Defrost at room temperature before serving and check to make sure the kisses and fully thawed before eating. They are very hard when frozen.
Trish’s Tips and Tricks
- When melting the peanut butter chips, make sure to heat in short intervals and at 50% power so the chips don’t seize up.
- This easy cookie recipe can be a fun family activity – especially when you need to double or triple the recipe.
- Be creative! Use Hugs Hershey’s Kisses for a whimsical flair or speckled Kisses or mix and match for a really fun presentation. Swap in butterscotch or chocolate chips so there is some variety.
