Decorate your tree with style this year! These easy Gift Wrap Medallion Ornaments are so easy to make and add a festive flair to your tree and Christmas gifts! A fun craft for kids of all ages!
I have to admit something. I’ve been listening to Christmas music all week long and I am just SO ready to bring Christmas to life in our home! I’ve told you guys before about Chris’s hard and fast rule regarding Christmas: NO decorating before Thanksgiving.
I’m resenting that rule a little bit this year.
Good news is that doesn’t mean I can’t get ready to decorate 🙂
These Easy Gift Wrap Medallion Ornaments are the perfect afternoon craft to get you in the Christmas spirit. All you need is some Christmas wrapping paper (the perfect use for scraps!), some tape, scissors and some mini bows or other embellishment for the center of the medallion.
These come together SO quickly and are perfect for your tree or even as a gift topper. I made a variety of sizes to fit our various trees and I just think they turned out so cute! Let’s get started!
Materials Needed:
- Holiday-patterned gift wrap with grid lines on back
- Scissors
- Ribbon
- Mini bows
- Scotch® Double-Sided Tape
- Scotch® Double-Sided Tape Applicator with Refills
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Gather the necessary materials for the project.
Roll out gift wrap and cut out three rectangles of equal size. The bigger the rectangles, the bigger the medallion. You want to make sure you have an even number of squares across, like 8 or 10. Ten squares will equal five folds. The height of the rectangle is equal to the diameter of your medallion. Just something to keep in mind. Once you’ve done one you can figure out if you want to go bigger or smaller.
Flip the paper over so the grid lines are facing up. Starting from the short side, fold paper over to the first line. Flip the paper over, and make the second fold using the grid lines as a guide. Continue folding the paper accordion-style until it is completely folded. Fold the accordion in half to look like a fan.
Place the Scotch® Double-Sided Tape Applicator flat on the inside flap of the fan and move the applicator across the object to apply tape. When you reach the end of the paper, stop moving the applicator and pull the yellow button up and back to cut the tape. Press against opposite side, adhering the inside flaps of the fan together.
Repeat previous steps to create two more fans from the remaining rectangles cut out in the first step. You need three altogether.
Use the double-sided tape applicator to apply another piece of double-sided tape to the outer edge of each fan and press all three fans together to form a full circle medallion.
Cut a short piece of ribbon and wrap a piece of double-sided tape around each end. Insert one taped end into one of the folds of the medallion. Insert the other end in between a different fold.
Adorn the medallion by adhering either a mini bow or other decorative piece of gift wrap to the center of the medallion using the double-sided tape applicator.
Repeat the steps above to create additional medallions and hang medallions from your tree or use as a gift topper.
More Christmas fun!

Thank for the directions on the medallions. I get sick of seeing something and can’t find any directions.
I think you love making people crave food, with all those pictures you post on the side of the page.
How about coming to Iowa for a week and be my cook? There are only 3 adults here…lol
Thanks again for the directions…
